Area Registrar
General Service Committee Chairs Report
January 15, 2006
***
Registration & Maintenance Meetings are now held every Wednesday at 7:00 PM
at the Area Office, 24225 W. Nine Mile, Suite 110, Southfield, MI just west of
Telegraph Rd. All GSRs & DCMs are
welcome to attend. See flyers for
complete details.
I
met with Fred C., Past Area Registrar, to obtain materials pertinent to the
service position. I was introduced to
the main responsibilities and I was trained on making changes to the Delegate
Area Database.
All
the materials have been filed in a manner on which I can become more familiar
with. Several documents are filed as
originals so that copies can be generated.
New GSR/Mail Contact Welcome Letters have been formatted to reflect the current
Delegate & Area Registrar. When a
new group sends in their registration, a letter can be quickly generated to
invite them to attend Area 33 Assembly Meetings.
District
Boundary Sheets will be made available.
***A
new DCM Meeting Agenda has been created and will be used at February’s DCM
Meeting. I would like to include a
small reading at the beginning of each meeting. It comes from the A.A. Service Manual on page S28, called The
District and The DCM.
Copies
of one Area’s suggestions for a District Inventory have been made. They are available upon request.
***New
designs for the New Group Forms and Group Information Change Forms have been
generated to help collect the information that the Delegate Area Database and
Area 33 Meeting Directory is now collecting.
The new items that were added are
a.)
an
expanded meeting day & time section to make room for such groups which have
more than one meeting
in the same day
b.)
open,
closed, smoking, non-smoking, handicap accessible meeting descriptions have been
added
(example: O, C, S/NS, HA)
c.)
a
spot for GSRs, Alternates or Mail Contacts to enter their email addresses as
GSO’s Database is collecting that type of information
d.)
a
check box for GSRs, Alternates & Mail Contacts to indicate their interest
for receiving Area Minutes by email or by regular mail.
e.)
a
check box for meeting information to be added the Area 33 Directory Online.
***The
General Service Office indicated that a new CD ROM for the Delegate Area
Application was set for mailing this week.
Incoming Group Information Change Forms and New Group Forms are being
collected. Once this new database has
been received, a complete synchronization will take place to reflect current
records and submitted changes on the Area 33 Meeting Directory. At that time a disk will be forwarded to the
Website Committee and directory publishing should only take 20 – 30 minutes.
The
cabinet, which contains archived group folders, has been taken home so I can
more closely work with each individual group’s records. Meanwhile, I will be gathering email
addresses of those GSRs and Mail Contacts who have supplied us with them for a
possible invitation to receive Area Minutes via email pending the adhoc
committee’s recommendations.
Some
supply expenses have already occurred.
A small order of service material for presentations, GSR schools and
display booths has been placed. A small office space has been set up to
accommodate the group files and the personal computer the Archives Committee
gave me. I plan on using this computer
as the main workstation for Area Registrar functions. It can be passed on to the next Area Registrar.
Sincerely
Yours In Service,
Dave
